Becoming...

"A man is what he thinks all day long."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

"We become what we think about."
Earl Nightingale

"For as he thinks within himself, so he is."
Proverbs 23:7 (NASB)

The first month of 2010 is behind us. What are you thinking about? What are you becoming?

What are your children thinking about? What are they becoming?

"Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth."
Colossians 3:1-2 (NASB)

What are they seeing? Reading? Hearing? Studying? Memorizing? Absorbing into the core of their beings?

What about you?

What about me?

"A pupil is not above his teacher, but everyone, after he has been fully trained will be like his teacher."
Luke 6:40 (NASB)

Does it matter?

Of course it matters!!

You know it matters.

I know it matters.

So, what are we going to do about it?

What I think is sad is when people do not want to think in the first place, and so cannot hope to think about what they think about, and end up having their thoughts controlled by every vicissitude and caprice of emotion and the world around them. May God keep us from that living death.

I'm always struck by the profoundness of this statement; failing to plan is planning to fail. We must think, must plan, must be intentional.
